Ticket Policies

Accessibility

Due to the nature of our historic building, all wheelchair accessibility seating is located on the first floor, which can be accessed through our garden entrance located on the uphill side of the Opera House.  Please call the Box Office to reserve your seats at 303-292-6700.  Stairs are required to access any seat from Row J or higher. [View the seating chart.]

Assisted listening devices – lightweight infrared headsets – are available in limited number for all performances at no extra charge and without prior reservation. These devices are available by contacting an usher in exchange for an approved photo ID which will be returned at the conclusion of the performance.

Supertitles are available at most performances inside the opera house. These English translations of the opera are visible on either side of the stage. Supertitles may not be available for concerts, special events or performances in English.

If you experience any problems or concerns during any Central City Opera performance, please notify an usher immediately or speak with the House Manager.

Exchanges

Only subscribers may exchange their tickets; all other sales are considered final – no exchanges, no refunds.

No charge will be incurred if subscribers exchange prior to 24 hours before the scheduled performance. All exchanges are subject to availability.

Ticket Fees

Central City Opera adds two fees onto most ticket purchases.

  • First, CCO assesses a Service Fee on festival events (6.5% on mainstage tickets, 5% on select festival extras), which supports the ongoing preservation and maintenance of our historic venues, including the Central City Opera House and Teller House. This fee directly contributes to ensuring these historic properties remain viable performance spaces for generations to come.
  • Second, The Central City Council has passed an ordinance that a 5% Admissions Fee must be added to all ticketed events in Central City.  This mandatory fee is separate from our ticket price and is remitted in full to the Central City government. Central City Opera is required to add this fee to the price of all ticket purchases to events in Central City. If you have questions, you can read more about the ordinance on the City’s website, or contact city officials here

For transparency and convenience, both of these fees will be displayed on a single combined line at checkout for online purchases.

Demand-Based Pricing

You may see small increases in ticket prices for individual mainstage performances as demand increases and seat availability tightens. Please note that section D (green) seats, and all seats for our annual Training Artist Matinee are exempt from these price increases.

We recommend our subscriptions, which always provide tickets at 20% off of the starting single ticket rate regardless of these price increases, among other benefits. Otherwise, we encourage you to purchase group or individual tickets as soon as possible when they become available for purchase.

Refunds

Unless the performance is canceled, no refunds are given for any reason, including but not limited to supertitle malfunction, weather and traffic conditions, and change of cast or orchestra.

Lost Tickets

If you lose or forget your tickets before the performance, contact the Box Office in Wheat Ridge (303-292-6700 or [email protected]).

On the day of a performance, please go directly to the Box Office for replacement issuance. During the summer festival, the Box Office is located at the Teller House, just next door to the Opera House. For other events during the year, the Box Office will be situated on-site at the venue.

Latecomers

All performances start promptly at the advertised time. Latecomers and those who exit during the performance can view the opera via closed circuit television at the Teller House. You may be re-seated in the Opera House after intermission.

We understand that due to many extenuating circumstances, patrons sometimes are unable to make it in time for our scheduled curtain. Unfortunately, as a non-profit arts organization, we must weigh various factors in regard to how long we can hold the start of a performance. These factors include substantial overtime costs incurred from our artists if the show should go over in length.

Opera House Performances: Due to the historic nature of our building, it is difficult to allow late seating without interruption for the majority of our audience members. If there is a pause, we will attempt to seat latecomers as soon as possible. In the meantime, we do offer a live television stream of the performance in our Terrace Room for patrons to watch until seating is again appropriate, which may not be until intermission. In order to inform our patrons ahead of time of potential delays, we have a link to the Colorado Department of Transportation on our website and also send this link via e-mail to keep patrons apprised of any construction or other issues in the area. Unfortunately, the I-70 corridor is increasingly busy during the summer weekends. Alternate routes may be advised.
