Denver, Colo., May 8, 2023 – Central City Opera (CCO) presented a complete four-year contract today to the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) for signature. The contract offered to AGMA by CCO is available publicly, in its entirety, HERE on the website.

AGMA actively allowed its contract with Central City Opera to expire in August of 2022, refusing to negotiate until October, thereby leaving its members without an agreement. Should the labor union choose not to sign the contract offered by CCO, the two organizations will engage in Federal Mediation to reach resolution before the Summer Festival. Given these facts, there is no basis for AGMA’s threat of a work stoppage which would effectively deny CCO’s artists the opportunity to earn a living through the creation of live performances this summer.

Central City Opera looks forward to an exciting and expanded Summer Season, returning to three Opera House Mainstage productions for the first time since 2012 featuring the classic opera Romeo & Juliet by Charles Gounod, the delightful Cole Porter musical Kiss Me, Kate, and the exquisite masterpiece Othello by Gioachino Rossini. Escape to Central City this summer and be delighted by these timeless Shakespearean stories brought to life on Central City Opera’s historic Opera House stage. centralcityopera.org
