Central City Opera’s Teen Mental Health Program Featured on 9News
This morning, 9News highlighted Central City Opera’s Chiaroscuro: Light in Darkness program in a segment exploring innovative approaches to teen mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
CCO’s Director of Education and Community Engagement Daniela Guzmán spoke with 9News about how the program came to be, why it matters to make opera relevant to today’s teenagers, and the response it’s received from students in Colorado schools.
Schools interested in bringing Chiaroscuro to their students can contact [email protected]. The program is designed for middle school, high school, and early college audiences, and Central City Opera provides scholarships to schools and community organizations that request financial assistance.
For those who want to support the expansion of this work, donations to Central City Opera’s education programs help ensure that more Colorado students have access to arts-based mental health programming.
