SEPTEMBER 9, 2022, Central City, CO–Observe artists at work and enjoy free activities for the whole family at the 5th Annual Central City Plein Air Festival! Select artists from across the country travel to the mountain town of Central City from Thursday, September 22nd through Sunday the 25th to paint the incomparable Colorado scenery and historic atmosphere.
On Saturday and Sunday, Central City Opera singers will perform at Music & Art: Plein Air in Concert from 3:00-4:00 pm in The Martin Foundry at 212 Eureka St, Central City, CO 80427. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or by calling 303-292-6700.
The festival culminates in an exhibition and sale in the Teller House on Sunday, where the paintings created during the weekend are displayed and available for purchase.

Quick Draw paintings will be on display and available for immediate purchase. Judging and an award for the winning Quick Draw painting will be distributed.

CAMILLE CLAUDEL: INTO THE FIRE by Jake Heggie
A Song Cycle for mezzo-soprano and string quartet with texts by Gene Scheer based on the life and work of French sculptor Camille Claudel, a student and lover of Rodin.
PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION by Modest Mussorgsky
The composition is based on pictures by the artist, architect, and designer Viktor Hartmann and will feature two pianos.

Be the first to view and shop for works painted throughout the weekend, and visit with festival artists. The judges will give brief remarks and distribute awards. Refreshments and drinks included.
