It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Daniel L. Ritchie, Central City Opera’s Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Board Member.
Dan passed away on Thursday, January 30, at the age of 93, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of service to the Colorado community, particularly in education and the performing arts. Dan’s vision, passion, and unwavering support for Central City Opera will be remembered for generations to come. During his ten-year tenure as Board Chairman, his leadership helped shape the company’s future. Under his guidance, CCO commissioned two operas, funded extensive renovations to the Opera House and our historic properties, and expanded our education and community programs, ensuring that opera and the arts remained accessible to all.
We are deeply grateful for Dan’s leadership, generosity, and friendship. His impact on Central City Opera and the broader arts and culture community in Colorado is immeasurable, and he will be profoundly missed.
