As we celebrated the 60th Anniversary of The Ballad of Baby Doe in Central City this year, it reminded us of what wonderful and tragic series of events transpired for the real Elizabeth “Baby Doe” McCourt Tabor and her valiant and prideful husband Horace Tabor. In the 1950s, it was composer Douglas Moore and librettist John Latouche who used opera as the ideal artistic medium to convey an emotional and loving interpretation of Baby Doe and Horace. It is with great honor that CCO has been able to continue producing this timeless story for our Colorado community.
