What better way to immerse yourself in music than by sitting down with a good coloring sheet while listening to the opera that inspired it!

We asked 12-year-old opera enthusiast Gray McCurdy to create a drawing for fans to print out and color as they like, inspired by the opera Acis and Galatea. Gray is a student at Denver School of the Arts. His mom, Sarah Barber, is a Central City Opera artist – she portrayed Mama McCourt in The Ballad of Baby Doe on the main stage in 2016 and was Augusta Tabor in a touring concert production of the same opera in 2016/17. Watch this short video to learn about Gray and his inspiration for the drawing.

Acis and Galatea by G. F. Handel tells the tale of the nymph Galatea and her lover Acis, a shepherd. The blissful couple faces danger when a powerful cyclops appears, desiring Galatea for himself. This one-act opera, performed in English, features members of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program. See it at Central City Opera July 25, 28 and August 1 at 8PM; July 26 at 5PM. Tickets and more information:
