Denver, CO. - On Sunday, Feb. 24, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., the third annual Ballads, Bugs and Ballet will be held at the Butterfly Pavilion. The event designed for families with young children age four to twelve, offers kids and parents the opportunity to experience interactive youth education programs offered by Central City Opera, The Butterfly Pavilion and Ballet Nouveau Colorado.

“Central City Opera House Association Guild, The Butterfly Pavilion and Ballet Nouveau all have objectives of community outreach, education and new member development,” states Pam Bansbach, president of the Central City Opera Guild. “We are thrilled that this event has become so popular and that families look forward to bringing their children each year.”

The Central City Opera Ensemble will give kids a taste of what it’s like to be a singing performer when they teach them a song complete with choreography. Kids will learn basic stage direction and performance skills, and have the thrill of performing the piece for their parents.

The Butterfly Pavilion will offer a thrilling Bug Safari where kids can get up close and personal with live insects, spiders and their other arthropod relatives! Hold Rosie the Tarantula, discover the differences between centipedes and millipedes and uncover just why these creepy crawlies are so important in our everyday lives!

Ballet Nouveau Colorado’s Ballet 101 lets budding ballerinas and dashing dancers dip their toes in the world of ballet! Find out the secrets of pointe shoes and tutus…discover why dancers are stronger than football players! Kids will kick off their shoes to learn basic ballet steps! This exciting introductory program is interactive, engaging and fun for all ages!

The event finale includes short performances by the Central City Opera Ensemble and Ballet Nouveau Colorado.

Ballads, Bugs and Ballet is appropriate for kids age four to twelve. The price is $10 per child and $5 per adult, which includes admission to The Butterfly Pavilion.
