CENTRAL CITY OPERA GUILD PRESENTS "OPERA INSIDE OUT"

Denver, Colo. (July 6, 2011) - The Central City Opera Guild presents “Opera Inside Out,” a behind-the-scenes experience for families on Thursday, July 21 from 1 to 3 pm, starting at Williams Stables, 113 Eureka St., Central City. “Opera Inside Out” opens with an all-new show presented by Central City Opera’s Education and Community Programs titled Eureka Street, performed by the Central City Opera Ensemble Artists to introduce opera concepts and examples of opera. The program will progress with age appropriate activities (for 5-12 year olds) and a tour of the historic Central City Opera House, including views from all areas of the intimate 550-seat space.

The learning opportunities continue with a backstage tour that includes the orchestra pit and the adjoining “Cast House” with views of the singer’s dressing rooms, the costume shop and the wig and make-up studios. Through this up-close experience, children and adults alike can heighten their appreciation of opera as well as enhance their operatic understanding. Central City Opera’s Education and Community Programs have presented performances and workshops in more than 100 communities across Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska since 1996. Each year, the Central City Opera Ensemble presents more than 150 performances and workshops in schools, senior centers and communities large and small. These performances provide opportunities for audiences to hear and learn about less familiar works along with old favorites and for new audiences to be introduced to the art form of opera.
