CENTRAL CITY OPERA PLAYS HOST TO ONE OF THE HOTTEST EVENTS OF THE SUMMER: SMOKIN' HOT HOEDOWN
WHO: Central City Opera presents Smokin' Hot Hoedown, a special evening of fun with incredible live music, cocktails and barbeque benefiting Central City Opera.
WHAT: Join Central City Opera at Four Mile Historic Park for a fun-filled hoedown and outdoor concert starring folk singer, songwriter and Nashville-based clawhammer banjo player, Abigail Washburn (www.abigailwashburn.com). She's opened and performed with such favorites as Steve Martin, Bela Fleck and the Steep Canyon Rangers and has played at renowned festivals including the famed Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Bonnaroo and Merlefest. In 2009, Ms. Washburn participated in the Clearwater Concert, a benefit concert in honor of Pete Seeger's 90th birthday that featured many of the world's most well-known musicians. This summer, she will perform at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Pickathon, Calgary Folk Festival, and many others, as well as open for the popular group Mumford & Sons in August.
Local musical favorites, The Mile Markers Band (themilemarkersband.com), will open for Ms. Washburn. Deeply rooted in old time, folk and traditional American music, the group has toured the Northwest and Midwest, and has performed at the Moab Folks Festival, the Green Beer and Bluegrass Festival in Denver, the WHYS Bluegrass Festival in Wisconsin, and others.
Individual Smokin' Hot Hoedown tickets, which include the concert, barbeque, beer and soft drinks, are available for just $60. Patron Tables of 10 are available for $1,000 and Individual Patron tickets are $100. Patron tickets and tables include priority seating, concert, full bar and barbeque.
