Performing Arts Intensive

Do you have students aged 14-19 who are ready for an extended performing arts workshop? Central City Opera and the Colorado Springs Conservatory offer the Performing Arts Intensive, two weeks of summer study with visiting master teaching artists. Under the direction of composer-in-residence, Mr. Roger Ames, students collaborate, create, and perform an original operatic work based on research completed during the first week.
Auditions for the 2013 Performing Arts Intensive were held in Denver, Colorado Springs and through online submission in December 2012. Students who love to perform will dig deep to develop skills in acting, dance/movement, vocal technique and composition in this two-week summer workshop in residence in Colorado Springs and Central City. Master teaching artists assembled by the Colorado Springs Conservatory and Central City Opera provide instruction as students team-create a short opera; learn and perform scenes from opera and musical theater; attend performances and classes, and perform their own work at the Central City Opera festival.
